Notes
Clothing & Weather Cuba is a wonderfully warm, tropical island, so cotton and other light fabrics are ideal for outdoor activities. Keep in mind, however, that resorts, restaurants, tour buses and other public areas are generally air conditioned. The weather is excellent in Cuba. The average temperature in winter is about 70 degrees Fahrenheit/21 degrees Celsius. Those that enjoy the beach will be glad to know that the average water temperature surpasses 25°C.
Electrical Equipment Cuba's electricity is 110 volts, 60Hz, but most hotels and resorts have 220 volts. Electrical outlets take flat plug prongs. If you're bringing an electrical appliance, check before you leave to see if you need an adaptor or converter.
Entering the Country Every tourist should have a valid passport issued on his or her name and a tourist card (the tourist card is available with the airline at the airport).
Activity Level Getting around in Cuba is at a very relaxing pace.
Camera Pack A medium-sized photo backpack with a majority of your gear packed inside is a great start. Make sure it's comfortable enough to carry for short distances. Belt packs and vests are also great accessories for those times when you want to bring only a lens or two for street shooting or if you are going after a certain pre-determined subject.
Image Storage Devices, Laptops or Image Viewers? You have a few options. Firstly if you do not have a storage device APA can assist you by using one of theirs. Secondly, for those who would like to use a device that allows you to burn CDs or even DVDs directly from your flash card or micro drive without a computer, you can use such devices as the Delkin DVD Burnaway, is fairly lightweight and easy to carry. A second option, and by far the easiest to pack and carry, is a portable hard drive such as an Epson viewers that allow you to download your images directly from your compact flash card. A laptop computer, your third option, is attractive because you can review and work with your images and connect to the Internet in certain areas to email family and friends. But a laptop is somewhat unwieldy and adds another piece of luggage to your kit. The choice is yours.
Bringing Your Partner This trip accommodates for participant to bring their partners for an enjoyable trip.
