Transform your photographs into painterly images with Polaroid/Fuji film by exploring two alternative photographic processes - Polaroid and Fuji image transfers. To create a transfer, a 35mm slide or 4x6 print is exposed onto peel-apart Polacolor or Fuji film (some equipment is provided in the workshop). The negative portion of the Polaroid/Fuji film is rolled onto another surface, such as watercolor paper, to develop. The resulting transferred image may then be further manipulated and handcolored with pencils, pastels or paints. Each image is unique due to the physical properties of the transfer process. The workshop will also explore handcoloring these unique images.
No prior photography experience is required. After a slide and portfolio presentation and a demonstration, participants will create their own original pieces of photographic art. Participants should bring a variety of 35mm slides or 4x6 prints, scissors, Q-tips, exacto knife, and paper towels to the workshop. If you already have a Vivitar or Daylab slide printer or Daylab Copy System, please bring it.
